Bracken – 10 year old male Border Collie

Hello, my name is Bracken. I am a 10 year old Border Collie. I’ve been living in kennels for quite a few months now, since my owners were no longer able to take care of me. That used to make me sad, especially when I had to stay home alone, but the kennel ladies are very kind, and cheer me up as best they can. I have been patiently waiting for a new family for a very, very long time now. I’m sure the right people must be out there, but they haven’t found me yet, so I thought I would tell you as much as I can about myself. If you are my new person please come and get me before the winter gets here. I really miss lying in front of a warm fire, and pottering round the garden.

Being a Border Collie, I love being kept occupied. I love walks, and I also love conversation with humans. They seem to love me too, as people often say I bring a smile to their face. I am a very big Collie, and still very strong. So, I need an owner who won’t get pulled over by me on walks. Or, I would be happy with a garden of my own. I usually come back when I am called, unless I happen to be on a rabbit or squirrel mission at the time. First things first! I love the outdoors, and having a good old sniff around. I also like sitting next to you on a bench, watching the world go by. I am very polite with other dogs when out and about, but have had a try living with another dog, and I got very jealous of him when his owner stroked him. And I definitely can’t share my home with a cat, or small furies. I can’t resist chasing them, which I like, but apparently they don’t. Spoilsports.
I’ve never met ‘children’ before, whatever they are, and my people say I might knock over small ones, so they need to be 12 years or over please.

If you’ve read this, and you aren’t my new family, please would you listen out for them, and tell them about me. Or, if you think you might be able to foster me until they find me, I would love to live in a home, instead of kennels. I’m ready and waiting, and could have my bag packed in a flash.
