Whisky is a 9 year old Border Collie boy who is in an Oldies Club foster home in Faversham, Kent, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home. This gorgeous lad is an intelligent, obedient collie who is eager to please and loves to play ball! Good with cats and calm dogs.
Whisky should be fine to live with sensible teenagers too. He needs plenty of exercise and playtime plus lots of mental stimulation to keep his agile collie brain happy. He finds it stressful when lots of people come to the house and ring the doorbell so would be happiest in a home where there are not lots of folks coming and going.
Whisky is happy sharing his foster home with the resident oldie Collie cross German Shepherd girl and has lived with a female staffy in the past with no problems. He is frightened of over-excitable or yappy dogs though so would prefer a calm companion. He tends to ignore the neighbouring dogs at his foster home.
There are no cats at his foster home but his previous owner said he was used to living with cats and was good with them. There are no children at his foster home but Whisky is very happy to play with anyone of any age who will throw a ball for him. If Whisky is feeling a bit anxious he can give a Collie nip, so for this reason he should not live with young children. His foster carer thinks he should be OK with sensible teenagers.
Whisky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. His previous owner reported that Whisky is allergic to fleas, so treatment needs to be always up to date. He did have a very itchy patch with some hair loss which following treatment has healed and the fur has completely regrown, but his owner said it was likely to be worse in the summer. On the vet’s recommendation, Whisky is having Evening Primrose Oil as a dietary supplement, and anti-dandruff shampoo. No ongoing medication.
